Once you have selected it you will now need to draw a circle, hold down the left mouse button and drag out a circle whatever size you want your planet to be.
4. Next go and click Filter, Render and Differnence Clouds not Clouds next you will want to click Ctrl and F a few times to get the desired effect of how many amount of lines and marking in your planet you want.
5. As soon as you are happy with your planet it should look a little like something below.

11.
You will be presented with a box like below you want to click for
whatever colour or gradient you desire but I usual pick the orange one
as it has a good effect.
12. After the colour has been set and you have clicked ok at the top of the screen you will see mode make sure you select Colour Burn
as soon as you click onto it you will see now that your cursor is a
little cross now if you click on the bottom of your planet and drag it
up through the diameter of it and let go you will see how a colour is
added on do this until you are happy with the effect. Remember if your
not happy you can always click Ctrl and Z to go back.
13. Next its time to add a little more coolness to it ooo what a word lol so click Image, Adjustments and contrast and a new box will appear. Drag the contrast slider along until you are happy with the effect that you see.
14. Job done you have created your own planet skin. Now as an extra touch you can get the smudge tool set it to around 50% Opacity and brush size of 15 and smudge out the spike effect that you see below from my finish main_bg file. Enjoy and remember to save as main_bg then create the rest of the pieces for your skins you can easily cut and paste parts of your main_bg file to your other skin parts. Why not even add some stars like mine below.
